As the foremost publisher of children’s books, Children’s Book Trust found a paucity of trained book publishing professionals and illustrators. To fill this gap, it set up the Shankar’s Academy of Art and Book Publishing in 1991 in memory of the late K. Shankar Pillai, Founder of CBT and a renowned cartoonist. The Academy is situated in Nehru House, New Delhi. The Academy, now in its 35th year, conducts a Diploma Course in Art, Book Illustration and Graphics.
